PCA Ocmulgee Region

Events

Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday at 7 PM of each month. Please call 478-719-0828 or 478-952-8166 for information regarding location or changes. Meetings are generally held in the Macon/Warner Robins/Byron/Centerville area. However, we are always looking for new locations and therefore are completely open to any suggestions. If you have any, please don't hesitate to contact Linda Smyth.

Spring 2008 Autocross
We are extremely proud to announce the booking of our next Autocross event, which will be our third venue held at the new location. Our event will be on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at the spacious parking lots of the Macon Centreplex and Convention Center facilities. Registration will commence at 10AM, with first car out at Noon. We are excited, since this again offers us an enormous amount of space for the event. We have already started planning the track design, and are shooting for a lengthy track time! This should be our greatest Autocross event yet, so be sure not to miss this one. For more information, download the event flier.

If you are interested in driving in the event and have not yet registered, then download and fill out the 'Driver Pre-Registration Form' and email it back as an attachment to kent.barnard@cox.net. Please note that we may have a much larger turnout at this event, & are forced to cut-off the number of drivers at 100. If this occurs, then ONLY the first 100 drivers to pre-register will be guaranteed their spot in driving the event. You will receive an email back from us, once your registration form attachment is received.

We will be doing something different this event. We will have a dedicated Parking Corral that will be reserved for all Porsches and any other exotics, or interesting automobiles of all forms of makes and models. These will be cars that are present, but will not be running in the driving portion of the event. This will give spectators another interesting specticle to enjoy. We will have a 'People's Choice' award later in the day, where we will award a trophy to the one car in the parking corral that everyone audibly votes that they liked the most.

If you are not interested in driving in the event but are interested in participating in the reserved Parking Corral, then download and fill out the 'Parking Corral Pre-Registration Form' and email it back as an attachment to kent.barnard@cox.net. This will help us budget on how many cars to expect in the corral, & will reserve you a spot, appropriately.

Driving Events

Do you love to drive your Porsche? In the Ocmulgee Region, we focus not only on driving for pleasure in non-competitive social events, but also on improving your driving skills through a performance driving school, with training and instruction available at several competitive events.

TRACK EVENTS
These events are for the driver, they range from beginning Drivers Education to full-fledge PCA Club Races. They are an adrenaline rush to satisfy even the most daring.

STREET EVENTS
Fun-packed and more family-oriented these events however are not in any sense ordinary. They require the utmost attention to detail and an accute sense of direction. These events include Rallys of many different flavors, car shows, Porsche Caravans and weekend excursions.

AUTOCROSS
Autocrossing involves negotiating a pre-designed closed course, marked by soft plastic cones, in a large parking lot. Autocrossing is a safe, inexpensive way to learn to drive at the limits of a car. You'll need a Snell '95 or better helmet. If you'd like to see what one of these events is all about, then click on this video link to see a quick video trailer of one of our PCA Autocrosses. To experience what it is like to drive one of these events, buckle your seatbelt and sit in the drivers seat of SCCA's Chuck Bloodworth, as he shot in-car video footage at one of our events.
